Climate Camp Ireland asks Pierse Fitzgibbon Solicitors to clarify relationship with Shannon LNG owners New Fortress Energy

To: Pierse Fitzgibbon Solicitors,

27 Market Street,

Listowel,

Co Kerry

Wednesday 3rd August, 2022

Dear Pierse Fitzgibbon Solicitors,

Climate Camp Ireland wishes to enquire whether your firm is directly or indirectly receiving money from US fracking giant, New Fortress Energy, the parent company of Shannon LNG.

New Fortress Energy’s principal address in Ireland is given in the Lobbying Register (www.lobbying.ie) as HQ Listowel, Rear of 27 Market Street, Listowel, V31 Y436. Pierse Fitzgibbon Solicitors’ address is at 27 Market Street, Listowel.

Climate Camp Ireland intends to engage in direct action to obstruct new fossil fuel infrastructure, including the proposed Shannon LNG fracked gas import terminal near Tarbert. This direct action will include obstructing the work of firms providing services to Shannon LNG and thereby profiting from a project that will contribute to catastrophic climate breakdown as well as harming communities in the US through fracking.

A report by researchers at the Irish Centre for Human Rights at NUI Galway in May 2021 found that hydraulic fracturing, or ‘fracking’, poses a threat to human rights through both its contribution to climate change and its impacts on surrounding communities and that these dangers cannot be mitigated through regulation.

We are visiting your premises today to demand clarification on whether Pierse Fitzgibbon Solicitors is letting part of its property to New Fortress Energy or in any other way profiting from the Shannon LNG project.

Please contact us at climatecampireland@gmail.com or by calling 089 962 1842.

Yours etc,

Climate Camp Ireland,

Saleen Pier,

Tarbert,

Co Kerry
